This month I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to attend a PR night organised by The Edge Events company to showcase their services. They certainly pulled out all the stops and showed exactly what they were capable of.
The event was held at the trendy British restaurant and bar Grafene based in the heart of Manchester City Centre. Upon arrival, the red carpet and balloon arrangement awaited, so I practised my best Beyonce swagger, praying I didn’t trip. Once safely inside, I was treated to a glass of bubbly and greeted warmly by the host Lyn Cutler. Playing in the background were the cheery tones of guest saxophone player Calvin Henry, the happiest sax player on the planet. He was so full of energy and quite clearly enjoyed what he was doing, and you had no choice but to smile along with him.
Firstly I was introduced to the lovely ladies who own The Potion Shop, Bernie and Beverley. They specialise in organic, paraben free skin-care products, and have an impressive number of accomplishments under their belt. They were both so warm and friendly and spoke so passionately about their company, I’m always looking out for cruelty free companies who don’t fill their products with dangerous and unknown chemicals so they were a big hit with me. Goody bags were available for guests to take home and test their products and I’m looking forward to trying out mine.
Next up to entertain us was James Cockerill, who is an award winning swing/jazz singer. We really were being spoilt! I actually started to believe I was Beyonce with the photographers and cameramen taking snippets of the evening, I had a quiet word with one of the photographers and advised him if I got caught in any of the pictures to photoshop me to a size 8, he smiled, I wasn’t joking!
Whilst mingling in the crowds, I spotted Tony Q’aja, an international Menswear designer, who I recognised from the Cheshire area, so I toddled over to say hello, being very careful not to knock over the delicious canapes being served. He was accompanied by Chris, who was only the Manager of Bentley/ Lamborghini in Birmingham – my boys would be so proud, I absolutely had to ask for a picture!
Of course I also managed to get my all important celebrity pictures as Goldie from the X-Factor and Eli Cripps who starred in the voice, were also amongst the impressive list of guests. A special shout out goes to Goldie’s sister whose dance moves and energy were truly spectacular. It was also nice to catch up with the up and coming DJ, Sarah Giggle, a natural beauty and a lot of fun.
Our host, Lyn, took to the stage to thank everyone for attending and presented luxury prizes to some very lucky winners. It was clear she was well-respected and supported and this was re-iterated by her main ally CEO David Brockway of World Privilege Plus, who is with her at every event and long time friend.
The final treat for guests came from the very talented multi-national saxophone player Richie Sax. All I can say is wow! Once I’d composed myself and mopped up the drool I had to get a video of him. He looked right into the camera and made you feel like you were the only person in the room and he was playing just for you. He certainly bought the cool into instrumental music, playing up to date hits that got everyone up dancing away.
If my boys aren’t with me I like to give them a little souvenir from any events I attend. As I couldn’t get them a Lamborghini or Bentley from Chris, the next best thing was to treat them was to a delicious cup-cake provided by Jons Cakes, which were created and designed to a high standard complete with ‘The Edge Events’ logo. My boys certainly gave them their taste of approval.
At the end of evening it was apparent everyone had had a truly memorable time, and I felt so honoured to have been there. This lady certainly knows how to arrange a luxury, VIP event and I look forward seeing more from her in the future.
