So here I am writing my very first blog post. I hope you enjoy reading it as much I enjoyed creating it.
In October 2016, I attended my very first celebrity event, the North West Fashion Festival in Liverpool. I decided to attend as some of cast members from one of my favourite shows ‘Real Housewives of Cheshire’ would be there. I had always wanted to meet them so this would be the perfect opportunity.
Once the tickets had been booked, then came the task of deciding what to wear. It was nice to take a break from jeans and leggings and look for something a bit different. The planning was exciting and built up the momentum for the event. As a plus size girl, I find picking clothes on a budget that look nice tricky, but I will cover this more in a future post. I opted for a black and white chequered dress from Peacocks with black tights and heeled wedges from New Look and did my own hair and make-up.
We arrived at St. George’s Hall, walked up the big steps ( in heels was no easy task) and into the hall. The first stall I saw was Tanya Bardsley showcasing her jewellery range and self-help book. Immediately I was star struck! But tried to act age appropriate ( I struggle with this at the best of times). I recognised her daughter, mum and PA from the show, and of course asked for pictures straight away, much to my sons embarrassment. They were all so welcoming and friendly, like we had known each other for years. I treated myself to Tanya’s book, which she signed herself, making it an even more personal and individual experience. I can’t wait to get stuck into it. Tanya was so lovely and even gave my son a big cuddle, which I think he secretly enjoyed.
Next up was the VIP lounge for the complementary glass of champagne. Now this doesn’t happen every day. I’m sat drinking Moet and it tasted amazing, I was in heaven! As I was savouring the moment, a figure caught my attention. It was no other than the fabulous Jsky, Manchester’s very own fashionista, who recently appeared on Extreme Makeovers: On fleek. I’ll admit I didn’t know who he was at that point but I knew he was SOMEONE. He just oozed glamour and sass. Que more pictures and another embarrassing mum moment. Added into the mix was the stunning model, Sam Reece. Could my day get any better?
As I left the VIP lounge, subtly skipping, I heard a familiar giggle nearby from Big Brother star Mark Byron, looking perfect as always, not a hair out-of-place, I couldn’t wait to see him in person and get the all important picture.
The hall was filled was glamorous and eye-catching pop-up stalls, including Dawn Wards new non-surgical clinic, Skulpt. I had the pleasure of meeting her, her husband, Ashley, her mum and three of her four beautiful daughters. It was lovely to see all the support she had with her from her family and friends, including James Golden, Director of PR events company Pink Tiger Productions, and Shameless star Tina Malone.
I also managed to ‘bump into’ X factor stars Marcus Collins, Keira Weathers and Tom and Laura before settling down to watch the fashion show featuring an array of talented designers. The atmosphere in the hall was electric with everyone having an enjoyable time.
As part of the VIP tickets guests were treated to a complementary treatment in the Harvey Nicols beauty bar, but as I was too busy celeb spotting I forgot to go! Although I did make sure I held onto my goody bag all day, which was full of lots of tasty treats. The whole event from start to finish was arranged to perfection, it was an amazing turn-out but not overly busy where you couldn’t see or do everything. All the celebs and organisers were happy to talk and interact with the guests, and I’ve even stayed in contact with some since the event. I will definitely be returning next year and I highly recommend it to everyone.
